Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a med-surg oncology unit
• Assess patients and manage complex clinical needs with attention to safety and comfort
• Administer medications and coordinate care, following unit protocols and best practices
• Use Cerner to document assessments, care plans, and medication administration accurately
• Support and assist with procedures such as echoes, thoracentesis, and occasional pelvic exams
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatments, and discharge planning
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to maintain optimal patient ratios and flow
• Model teamwork, reliability, and a willingness to learn to support unit performance

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2+ years nursing experience (per posting)
• BLS certification (required)
• Oncology and med-surg nursing experience preferred
• Chemo certification preferred but not required
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR preferred
• Comfort with procedures such as echo and thoracentesis is a plus
• Team-player attitude and willingness to float rarely to other med-surg units

Education

• Active RN license (education level not specifically stated in posting)

• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
• Familiarity with oncology care and med-surg workflows
• Experience using Cerner electronic medical records
• Ability to manage patient ratios of approximately 1:4 to 1:5

• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
• Adaptability to rotating schedules and weekend coverage
