Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients
• Monitor and assess patient condition, recognizing changes and escalating promptly
• Administer medications, treatments and therapies according to physician orders
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update individualized care plans
• Document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, care plans and discharge needs
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to obtain Texas licensure for the assignment)
• Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical experience (PCU or similar acute care experience preferred)
• Comfort and experience working 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced environment
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification as required by facility (verify facility requirements)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and monitoring skills for intermediate acuity patients
• Proficiency with IV medication administration and cardiac monitoring
• Solid critical thinking and prioritization in urgent situations
• Effective communication with patients, families and the care team
• Accurate electronic charting and documentation practices
