Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and kindness
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support mobility and transfer needs using safe body mechanics and proper equipment
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful interactions
• Document care accurately and timely in resident charts and communicate effectively with team members
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control procedures
• Collaborate with nurses and other care team members to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification — required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with resident care and transfers
• Pass required background checks and health screenings per facility policy

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and personal care
• Knowledge of basic infection control and safety practices
• Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
• Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Team player with good communication and documentation habits
• Respectful, compassionate approach to working with older adults
