Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based postpartum and mother-baby care to couplet rooms
• Monitor maternal and neonatal status, recognizing changes and escalating concerns promptly
• Administer medications and manage Alaris pumps and bilirubin lights per unit protocols
• Support breastfeeding education and newborn care instruction for families
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including nurses, PCTs, and physicians
• Serve as a team player who teaches and mentors others on best practices for mother-baby care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to work in North Carolina or compact privileges as required)
• Minimum 2+ years of Mother Baby / Postpartum nursing experience
• Current BLS and NRP certifications (required)
• STABLE certification and experience caring for patients on Magnesium Sulfate post delivery (preferred)
• Experience with Cerner EMR, Alaris pumps, and bilirubin phototherapy equipment (preferred)
• Comfortable working with couplet patient ratios ~1:3-4 and assisting in L&D and NICU as needed
• Team-oriented, with strong teaching and patient education skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong postpartum/newborn assessment and monitoring skills
• Familiarity with mother-baby unit procedures including circumcisions and newborn care
• Skill in electronic documentation using Cerner
• Competence with infusion devices (Alaris pumps) and bilirubin therapy
• Ability to manage maternal medications including magnesium sulfate protocols
• Excellent communication, patient education, and teamwork abilities
