Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert cardiovascular intensive care for complex patients in the CVICU, delivering safe, compassionate care every shift
• Manage mechanical ventilation and advanced airway devices, adjusting support based on patient needs
• Titrate vasoactive and vesicant medications safely and accurately while monitoring hemodynamics
• Interpret telemetry and PA catheter data to guide bedside decision making and collaborate with the team
• Set up and manage PA catheters and support invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Assist and participate in cardiac procedures such as cardioversion and transvenous pacing when indicated
• Document care precisely in Cerner to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to create individualized care plans and improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice) or compact RN license where applicable
• 2+ years of recent ICU or CVICU experience required
• Demonstrated experience with vents, pressors, sedation, paralytics, trachs and telemetry interpretation
• Comfortable with PA catheter setup and interpretation and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with cardiac support devices and procedures is highly valued (IABP, Impella, CRRT, transvenous pacing, cardioversion)
• CCR N/CCRN certification appreciated but not required
• Comfortable using Cerner and Baxter IV pump documentation

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and advanced ventilator modes
• Telemetry interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
• Hemodynamic monitoring and PA catheter management
• Titration of vasoactive and vesicant medications
• Experience with trachs, chest tube care, and post cardiac procedure monitoring
• Familiarity with devices: IABP, Impella, CRRT, TEE, transvenous pacing
• Proficient electronic documentation in Cerner and use of Baxter IV pump
