Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor behavioral health patients, adapting care plans to meet changing needs
• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for individuals experiencing mental health crises
• Administer medications safely and document treatments accurately in the patient record
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans
• Use de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication to maintain a safe environment
• Educate patients and families on coping strategies, discharge planning, and community resources
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and participate in daily team huddles and handoffs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — North Carolina license or compact RN preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of RN experience, with behavioral health experience required
• BLS required; psychiatric/mental health certification (PMH-BC) or equivalent is a plus
• Comfortable working 12+ hour clinical shifts and managing complex behavioral health patients
• Strong communication, clinical assessment, and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and follow established protocols

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in psychiatric assessment, suicide risk screening, and safety planning
• Proficient in medication administration and monitoring for psychotropic medications
• Experienced with de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care
• Solid documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health records
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced behavioral health setting
