Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality labor and delivery nursing care to expectant mothers from admission through delivery and immediate postpartum
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate assessment tools and continuous fetal monitoring
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives and the interdisciplinary care team to create and execute individualized care plans
• Support patient education, informed decision making and emotional needs during labor and delivery
• Document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner
• Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and escalate care when necessary to ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state or compact) required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery as stated in the posting
• Current BLS certification required; NRP or other neonatal/fetal monitoring certifications preferred
• Comfortable working 12-plus hour day shifts and functioning in a fast-paced unit
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor assessment, fetal monitoring interpretation and postpartum care
• Proficient in documenting in the electronic medical record and tracking patient outcomes
• Knowledge of obstetric emergency procedures and neonatal stabilization
• Excellent patient education and family-centered care approach
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and remain calm under pressure
