Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate assessment and fetal monitoring techniques
• Collaborate with obstetricians, nurse midwives, anesthesia, and neonatal teams to support safe deliveries
• Support and educate patients and families through labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
• Respond to obstetric emergencies calmly and effectively, initiating appropriate interventions and escalation

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure or ability to obtain licensure for North Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and ACLS preferred
• Ability to work full clinical shifts overnight and collaborate in a fast-paced unit

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and maternal assessment skills
• Skilled in labor support, pain management, and postpartum care
• Ability to anticipate needs and prioritize care during high-acuity events
• Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary obstetric teams
• Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with unit-level protocols
