Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and rapidly assess patients arriving to the Emergency Department to prioritize care
• Provide high-quality bedside care and cardiac monitoring for acutely ill patients
• Administer emergency interventions per protocols for trauma and stroke patients
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Coach and mentor teammates in real time, offering constructive feedback to support continuous improvement
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including techs and unit clerks to ensure smooth patient flow
• Deliver excellent patient experience using AIDET and clear communication throughout the visit
• Adhere to unit policies and safety protocols while contributing to a welcoming, multi-cultural environment

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure
• Minimum 2 years’ nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER/ED setting
• 2 years’ experience preferred in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (>100,000 visits)
• ACLS, BLS, PALS required before start date
• TNCC and CPI required before start date; NIHSS required before start date
• ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
• Experience with Cerner documentation system
• Ability to work as part of a team, coach others, and float across ED sections

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage best practices and emergency nursing workflows
• Cardiac monitoring and familiarity with GE monitors
• Experience with Baxter pumps and common ED equipment
• High-volume ED operations and patient flow management
• Strong patient communication skills and AIDET principles
• Trauma and stroke care protocols and rapid assessment skills
• Teamwork, real-time coaching, and situational leadership
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, culturally diverse environment
