Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, high-acuity labor and delivery nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery and postpartum
• Circulate during C-sections and assist the OR team to ensure patient safety and smooth procedures
• Administer and monitor IV drips (including magnesium) and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech to support continuity and quality
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatology (Level III NICU) and multidisciplinary team members
• Support patients and families through education, compassionate communication and excellent patient experience practices
• Perform or assist with procedures such as epidurals, spinals, cerclage and versions as needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (VA) required
• BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, with labor & delivery experience highly preferred
• Meditech documentation experience preferred
• Scrub/OR circulating experience helpful for C-section support
• AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certification optional/beneficial
• Level III NICU experience preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of labor & delivery practices and high-acuity maternal care
• Experience circulating for C-sections and supporting OR workflows
• Comfortable managing IV therapies including magnesium drips
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation
• Ability to float within the women's & children's service line and adapt to fast-paced environments
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient-focused care skills
