Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients in the PACU to ensure safe recovery from anesthesia
• Manage ventilator monitoring and advanced respiratory support as needed
• Perform timely, accurate documentation in Cerner to support continuity of care
• Apply NIH Stroke Scale and other assessment tools to identify neurological changes
• Collaborate with surgical, anesthesia and peri-anesthesia teams to coordinate patient care
• Provide compassionate education and support to patients and families during recovery
• Assist with unit workflows including lab draws, catheterizations and transports when assigned

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical nursing experience (as stated)
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (current)
• NIH Stroke Scale experience required
• Advanced skills: ventilator monitoring experience
• Preferred: trauma experience and pediatric experience for this unit
• Comfortable using Cerner documentation system and working with a 1:2 patient ratio

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong peri-anesthesia/PACU clinical knowledge
• Experience with ventilator monitoring and post-anesthesia respiratory care
• Proficient with Cerner electronic documentation
• Skilled in acute patient assessment and rapid clinical decision-making
• Familiarity with PACU equipment and standard post-op procedures
• Ability to work within team-based rounding, call schedules, and float assignments
