Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality postpartum and newborn care in a Mother Baby unit, managing couplet care for mother and infant
• Assess, plan, and implement individualized nursing care for postpartum patients and newborns
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including care for patients on Magnesium Sulfate post-delivery
• Operate and monitor unit equipment such as Alaris infusion pumps and bilirubin lights/blankets
• Perform and assist with procedures common to the unit, including circumcisions as appropriate
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to ensure continuity and safety
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, teach and support newer staff, and contribute to a positive team environment

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with 2+ years clinical experience (Mother Baby experience required)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications (required)
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR
• Experience with postpartum and newborn care, including couplet care and patient ratios up to 1:3-4 couplets
• Preferred: STABLE certification and travel nurse experience
• Ability to work weekends and integrate into unit staffing; team player who enjoys teaching
• Comfortable assisting in L&D and NICU as a floating area when needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of postpartum maternal care and newborn assessment
• Familiarity with newborn procedures and support (circumcisions, bilirubin management)
• Proficient with Alaris infusion pumps and neonatal equipment
• Solid Cerner documentation and charting skills
• Ability to manage multiple couplet patients safely and efficiently
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
