Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Continuously assess and monitor patient status, recognizing changes quickly and acting decisively
• Administer medications, manage complex infusions, and support advanced life support measures
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and the broader care team
• Perform thorough, timely documentation and ensure safe, effective handoffs
• Educate and support families during stressful moments with compassion and clarity

Qualifications

• Active RN license (North Carolina or compact) — ready to practice
• Minimum 2+ years of PICU or pediatric critical care experience
• Current BLS required; PALS preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking and ability to function in high-acuity settings
• Willingness to work night shifts for the duration of the assignment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid pediatric assessment and monitoring skills
• Experience with ventilators, vasoactive drips, and central line care in children
• Excellent communication and family-centered care approach
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm under pressure
• Team-oriented mindset and collaborative problem-solving
