Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care on the Stepdown unit, managing surgical, medical and occasional neuro patients with confidence
• Perform advanced line management including IV insertion, PICC/central line care, A-line and dialysis fistula support
• Titrate vasoactive drips safely (examples: neosynephrine, amiodarone, cardizem) and monitor patients closely
• Manage airway support including CPAP/BiPAP and trach care when needed
• Administer and manage epidural/PCA pumps and feeding tubes, ensuring patient comfort and safety
• Care for complex wounds and operate wound vac systems as part of comprehensive patient care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, adapting to floating assignments and changing patient needs

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current licensure (active RN license required)
• Proven experience or comfort with IV insertion, PICC/central line and vascular device care
• Experience with vasoactive drip titration and monitoring
• Skill with airway supports such as CPAP/BiPAP and trach care
• Experience managing epidural/PCA pumps, feeding tubes and wound vacs
• Ability and willingness to float between units as required
• Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Line management skills: IV insertion, PICC/central line, A-line, dialysis fistula care
• Cardiac support knowledge: obtain 12-lead EKG, sheath removal, cardioversion/defibrillation (preferred)
• Airway management: CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care
• Experience with epidural/PCA pumps, feeding tubes and wound vac systems
• Familiarity with common Stepdown equipment: bladder scanners, IV and PCA pumps, SCDs, optiflow, vapotherm, Airvo
• Comfort with vasoactive medications and titration protocols
