Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Plant Operations, Environmental Services and Grounds, directing both direct and indirect staff
- Supervise and develop approximately 45 FTEs across maintenance and support divisions
- Ensure continuous operation of utility systems (heat, steam, power, gas, oxygen) necessary for patient care
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and ensure equipment is maintained per manufacturer recommendations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and hospital policies, including NFPA, OSHA, EPA and CMS
- Manage outside contractors and ensure contractor compliance with facility standards and regulations
- Act as a collaborative liaison with other departments to assess needs and develop action plans
- Develop job-specific customer service expectations, training plans, and follow-up processes for staff and stakeholders
- Troubleshoot and lead repair efforts by applying engineering principles to detect and fix malfunctioning equipment or systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience
- Proven knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclaving, bio-waste handling and life safety codes
- Familiarity with construction phasing and environmental services operations
- Ability to apply engineering principles to diagnose and repair building systems
- Willingness to relocate to a rural community
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Plant operations and facilities management
- Preventative maintenance planning and execution
- HVAC and boiler operation expertise
- Plumbing, electrical systems and carpentry skills
- Regulatory compliance: NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and local building/fire codes
- Staff supervision, personnel management and training program development
- Contractor oversight and construction phasing
- Autoclaving and bio-waste handling knowledge
- Strong customer service orientation and cross-department collaboration
