Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and pass instruments while maintaining strict sterile technique in the OR
• Prepare the operating room and instrumentation for a wide variety of cases — general, GYN, robotics, neuro, ortho, plastics, urology, burn and trauma
• Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during procedures, including robotics support when required
• Document perioperative care accurately in Cerner and follow unit documentation standards
• Maintain instrument and equipment readiness, troubleshoot basic issues, and coordinate with central sterile
• Support patient safety and experience by following unit policies, participating in time-outs, and communicating clearly with team members
• Float to other departments as needed and adapt quickly to variable schedules and call demands

Qualifications

• CST / ORT specialty experience (CST/ORT background required by specialty listing)
• Minimum 2+ years of operating room experience
• Hands-on experience across multiple service lines (general, GYN, robotics, neuro, ortho, plastics, urology, burn, trauma)
• Experience with robotics cases and perioperative/sterile technique
• Familiarity with Cerner documentation preferred
• Current BLS (or facility-required) certification and ability to meet credentialing requirements

Education

• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent training; high school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Broad surgical knowledge across multiple specialties
• Strong perioperative and sterile technique
• Robotics-assisted surgery familiarity
• Proficiency with Cerner or similar documentation systems
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced OR environment
• Good communication, teamwork, and adaptability for floating and variable schedules
