Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care to adult ICU patients, ensuring safety and best-practice interventions
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status using clinical judgment and evidence-based protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Administer medications, manage IV therapies, and operate advanced monitoring and ventilator equipment as required
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition and emergencies
• Educate patients and families about care plans, procedures, and discharge instructions with compassion and clarity
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring colleagues and participating in quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Alabama
• Critical care experience in an ICU setting (experience preferred; required experience not specified in job data)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or as mandated by facility
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred for ICU practice
• Excellent clinical assessment skills, strong communication, and teamwork mindset
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and manage the physical and mental demands of critical care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — follow facility requirements
• Ongoing professional development and specialty certifications encouraged

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of critical care patient assessment and monitoring
• Familiarity with ventilator management and airway care
• Proficiency in medication administration and IV therapy
• Experience with electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced ICU environment
• Comfortable participating in rapid response and code situations
