Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for Step-Down Unit patients
Monitor and assess patient status, recognizing subtle changes and escalating concerns
Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans
Document patient care, interventions, and responses clearly and timely
Participate in orientation and ongoing unit-based training to maintain best practices

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
Experience or interest in Step-Down Unit (SDU) care
Ability to complete facility orientation as required
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

Familiarity with monitoring higher-acuity patients transitioning from ICU-level care
Skilled in patient assessment, vital sign interpretation, and care planning
Comfortable collaborating with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other clinicians
Able to document accurately in electronic health record systems
