Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered Med/Surg nursing care at all stages of treatment
• Assess, monitor and document patient condition and progress accurately
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient status and escalate concerns as needed
• Maintain patient safety, infection control and unit standards at all times

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for Louisiana practice (or compact RN with LA eligibility)
• Clinical experience or comfort working in a Med/Surg setting
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS or specialty certifications appreciated where applicable
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration and documentation skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and participate in rotating schedules, including weekends

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg patient care principles and common clinical conditions
• Proficient medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning and clinical documentation
• Comfortable using electronic health records (EHR) and clinical technology
• Excellent communication, teamwork and time-management abilities
• Critical thinking and prioritization in a fast-paced hospital environment
