Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-operative cardiac and critical care to CVICU patients, including immediate post-op cardiac surgery management
• Perform and interpret hemodynamic monitoring, manage PA catheter data, and titrate therapies accordingly
• Care for patients on advanced circulatory and respiratory support including ECMO, Centrimag, and HM3 LVAD
• Manage mechanical circulatory assist devices such as IABP and Impella and collaborate with perfusion and surgical teams
• Perform or assist with unit procedures including central line insertion, Swan-Ganz insertion, and intubation when required
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Meditech and maintain clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Educate patients and families about procedures, device management, and recovery plans with compassion and clarity
• Contribute to unit quality initiatives, patient safety practices, and a positive team culture

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of recent critical care nursing experience; CVICU experience required
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
• Proven skill with PA catheter management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, CRRT, and ECMO management
• Comfortable with critical procedures and device troubleshooting in a high-acuity setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of critical care and post-operative cardiac care principles
• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and PA catheter interpretation
• Familiarity with mechanical circulatory support devices (ECMO, LVAD, IABP, Impella)
• Experience using Meditech electronic health record for documentation
• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm recognition skills
• Competence with Alaris IV pumps and bedside monitor systems
• Excellent multidisciplinary communication and team collaboration
• Ability to prioritize and respond rapidly in high-acuity situations
