Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care and support to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Safely transfer and ambulate residents, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Document care accurately and timely to maintain clear resident records
- Collaborate closely with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver excellent care
- Maintain infection control practices and a clean, safe environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current Connecticut CNA certification (required)
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required per facility policy)
- Comfortable performing resident transfers and assisting with mobility
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
Education
- High school diploma or GED and completion of a state-approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamentals of resident care and activities of daily living
- Infection prevention and safe hygiene practices
- Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
- Familiarity with electronic or paper charting and documentation standards
- Teamwork and effective communication with nursing staff and families
