Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
• Assess and monitor patient condition; recognize changes and escalate appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to develop and follow care plans
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
• Support and mentor colleagues to foster a positive team environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Louisiana licensure required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications encouraged
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred
• Comfort working 12-hour shifts and flexible scheduling
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
• Ability to use electronic medical records and standard clinical equipment

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practices and standards
• Patient assessment and clinical monitoring skills
• Medication administration and IV management
• Wound care and basic procedural familiarity
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time in a busy unit
• Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems
