Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and ensure smooth transitions
• Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in status
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record accurately and timely

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN eligible
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and other certifications a plus
• Clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred (recent Med/Surg experience encouraged)
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and function effectively in a fast-paced unit

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of med/surg patient care principles and procedures
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time during busy shifts
• Excellent interpersonal skills for patient/family education and teamwork
• Competence in recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition
