Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assess pediatric patients in the PACU and provide safe, compassionate post-anesthesia care
Monitor vital signs and recovery progress, promptly escalating concerns to the team
Administer medications and pain management interventions per orders
Coordinate care with anesthesia, surgical teams, and families for seamless handoffs
Provide clear, family-centered education and discharge teaching to caregivers
Maintain accurate EHR documentation and assist in efficient throughput

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Missouri license preferred)
Current BLS certification required; PALS strongly preferred for pediatric PACU work
Experience in PACU, pediatrics, or related perioperative nursing is preferred
Comfort with airway assessment, IV therapy, and postoperative monitoring
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting
Ability to complete required orientation prior to independent assignment

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric postoperative care and assessment
Post-anesthesia monitoring and recovery protocols
Pain management and medication administration
Airway management basics and emergency recognition
IV therapy and documentation best practices
Electronic health record (EHR) documentation
Family-centered care and caregiver education
Team collaboration with surgical and anesthesia staff
