Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based psychotherapy and clinical assessments for adults in a correctional mental health setting
• Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals that promote mental health and safety
• Conduct timely risk assessments and crisis interventions when needed
• Document clear, professional, and compliant clinical notes in the patient record
• Collaborate with facility staff, multidisciplinary clinicians, and leadership to coordinate care
• Participate in the scheduled on-call rotation (one week during the contract) and respond professionally to urgent needs
• Contribute to program improvement, treatment team meetings, and case consultations

Qualifications

• Active California Psychologist license or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license required
• LCSW or LPCC credentials welcome and considered
• Experience or interest in correctional or forensic mental health preferred
• Comfort with on-call responsibilities and responding to urgent clinical situations
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet clearance requirements
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical recordkeeping

Education

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field (Doctorate required for licensed psychologist)

Knowledge & Skills

• Trauma-informed care and evidence-based treatment approaches (CBT, DBT, etc.)
• Clinical assessment, diagnostic formulation, and treatment planning
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Effective interdisciplinary collaboration and communication
• Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations
• Proficiency with electronic health records and professional documentation standards
