Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ functional status and contribute to individualized treatment plans
• Implement therapeutic activities and interventions under the OT plan of care
• Monitor patient progress and adjust interventions as directed by supervising OT
• Document treatment sessions clearly and timely to support outcomes and compliance
• Educate patients and families on strategies to improve independence with ADLs
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members for coordinated care
• Recommend adaptive equipment and train patients in safe use to maximize function
• Support a positive, patient-centered environment that encourages recovery

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• State authorization or ability to work in California (meet any state registration/licensure requirements)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong clinical documentation skills and comfort with electronic medical records
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, patient-focused mindset
• Ability to work a consistent daytime schedule, including weekend coverage as assigned

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field
• Completion of an accredited OTA program and COTA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic techniques for activities of daily living (ADLs) and functional mobility
• Familiarity with adaptive equipment, splinting principles, and activity modification
• Clinical assessment skills to track patient progress and help meet goals
• Knowledge of infection control, patient safety, and HIPAA standards
• Comfort working in a fast-paced rehab setting and supporting interdisciplinary care
• Strong organizational skills to manage caseload and timely documentation
