Shift Type: Rotating schedule (varies, includes weekdays and weekends): 2x8-hour and 2x12-hour evening rotations; typical evening windows listed include 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM and 10:30 PM - 11:00 PM. Also offers Mid 4x10 schedule (13:00 - 23:00 → 1:00 PM - 11:00 PM). Call begins at 7:00 PM on weekdays; weekend call is required and divided into 12-hour blocks. Shift type: rotating/evening with weekend coverage and shared call.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a safe, efficient cardiovascular operating room environment for adults and geriatrics
• Assist surgical teams during complex cardiac, vascular and transplant procedures including CABG, TAVR, EVAR and thoracic cases
• Perform accurate and timely charting in EPIC to ensure excellent continuity of care
• Manage blood and blood product administration with strict adherence to policies and universal protocol (time out)
• Respond to codes and emergency situations, providing critical support during ECMO and other high-acuity events
• Maintain infection control standards and participate in unit safety initiatives
• Participate equitably in call rotation and provide on-call coverage as scheduled
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and throughput

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice)
• Minimum 3 years OR experience required, with at least 2 years dedicated cardiac and vascular experience (hard stop)
• Minimum 1 year CVOR experience
• Experience in a Level I Trauma facility required
• EPIC charting experience required
• BLS required; NIHSS listed (and ACLS preferred)
• Comfort with call duties, weekend coverage and variable schedules

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiovascular, thoracic and vascular surgical procedures
• Transplant surgery workflows (heart, lung)
• Perioperative care in CVOR and hybrid OR settings
• EPIC charting system proficiency
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Infection control and Universal Protocol (time out) procedures
• Experience with TAVR, LVAD, IABP, CABG, EVAR/TEVAR and endovascular procedures
• Robotic-assisted surgery familiarity (Da Vinci Si/SP/Xi) and VATS
• Code response, malignant hyperthermia management and emergency management skills
• Use of electrosurgical units, fiber optic lighting and specialty cardiovascular instrumentation
