Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care for adult BMT and oncology patients, including pre- and post-transplant support
• Administer chemotherapy safely and manage post-chemotherapy body fluid precautions with strict adherence to protocols
• Administer and monitor blood products, ensuring appropriate documentation and patient safety
• Perform central line, PICC, and port care including blood draws and access management
• Continuously monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms
• Implement infection prevention and isolation precautions to protect immunocompromised patients
• Use Epic for accurate charting, medication administration records, and care coordination
• Participate in rapid response teams and intervene in oncologic or sepsis emergencies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and communicate patient-centered care plans
• Support unit needs by flexing to other MedSurg Oncology areas as required

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (state or compact as applicable)
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS/ONCC) Chemotherapy Certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; must have MS/telemetry and oncology experience in checklist, with at least 1 year of hematology/oncology specialty experience within the last 3 years
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Demonstrated experience with central line/PICC/port care, IV therapy/infusions, and blood product administration
• Proficiency with Epic or similar electronic charting systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Bone marrow transplant (autologous, allogeneic, syngeneic) care
• Chemotherapy administration and safe handling practices
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV therapy, infusion pumps, and central line management
• Management of graft-versus-host disease and post-transplant complications
• Oncologic emergency recognition and sepsis management
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and immunocompromised patient care
• Feeding tube care and complex wound/port management
