Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care to SICU and TICU patients, including post-op vascular and trauma cases
• Manage mechanical ventilation and complex respiratory needs collaboratively with RT
• Interpret telemetry/EKG strips and respond to cardiac events
• Deliver care for patients on CRRT, ECMO, and those with invasive lines and IABP support
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the Cerner EMR
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate effectively with hospitalists/intensivists
• Float between SICU and TICU as census requires while maintaining high standards of care
• Act as a resource during emergencies and provide bedside report at shift change

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (surgical/trauma experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS required
• TNCC and trauma experience preferred for TICU assignments
• Strong ventilator management and EKG interpretation skills
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and floating between units
• Ability to work every-other-weekend and rotate holidays with core staff
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and acute care documentation

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing for surgical and trauma patients
• Mechanical ventilator management and respiratory support
• Telemetry and EKG interpretation
• CRRT and ECMO familiarity and management principles
• Postoperative vascular and trauma care (CEA, fem-pop, EVARs, laparotomies, thoracic procedures)
• Familiarity with IABP and donor patient care considerations
• Cerner EMR charting and clinical documentation
• Strong teamwork, communication, and bedside report practices
