Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality orthopedic post-operative nursing care to adults in a 32-room orthopedics unit
• Perform dressing changes, suture/staple removal and wound vac maintenance with attention to infection prevention
• Manage Foley catheter care and NG tube management safely and competently
• Operate and apply CPM devices and assist patients with mobility using lift equipment like Sky lifts, Sara Lift and Maxi Move
• Use Cerner to accurately document assessments, interventions and care plans
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members including charge RNs, LPNs, PCTs and HUCs to optimize patient outcomes
• Support a fast-paced environment while maintaining patient-centered care and treating patients like family
• Participate in unit float duties to other Med-Surg areas as needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC) — required
• BLS certification — required
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience (orthopedic or med-surg experience strongly preferred)
• Comfort and competence with orthopedic procedures, wound care, Foley and NG tube care
• Ability to work night shift and every other weekend as part of the schedule
• Team-player attitude with strong communication and adaptability in a fast-paced hospital setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing principles and post-op care
• Med-Surg patient assessment and management
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation
• Wound Vac maintenance and dressing changes
• Foley catheter and NG tube care
• Experience with CPM machines and bladder scanners
• Safe patient handling and use of lifts and mobility equipment
