Shift Type: Primary: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day). Coverage: Any 3 weekdays, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM as needed. Training: 2-week mandatory training Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts.

Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
• Provide medication management and monitor clinical response
• Collaborate with mental health teams and custody staff to support patient safety
• Deliver timely, concise documentation and participate in treatment planning
• Lead and participate in training sessions during the required 2-week onboarding
• Assess risk and intervene in crises to de-escalate and stabilize patients
• Contribute to quality improvement and best-practice initiatives in mental health care

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry (preferred)
• Valid California medical license or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Active DEA registration or ability to obtain one as required
• Experience in mental health settings; correctional/forensic experience is a strong plus
• Comfort and availability to provide coverage any 3 weekdays and complete a 2-week training

Education

• MD or DO (Psychiatry residency required)
• Board certified/board eligible in Psychiatry

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in psychiatric assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning
• Strong medication management and psychopharmacology knowledge
• Crisis intervention and risk assessment expertise
• Excellent documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health records
• Ability to train and mentor clinical staff in a clear, professional manner
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and collaboration skills
