Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor progressive care patients, quickly identifying changes in condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and according to protocol
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac monitoring to guide timely interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and families for coordinated care
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education to support recovery and discharge
• Document accurately in the EHR to ensure continuity of care and regulatory compliance
• Respond to emergencies and escalate concerns promptly, using critical thinking under pressure
• Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential — eligible to practice in Texas (TX) or hold a valid compact license
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (PCU, progressive care, or med-surg experience preferred)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, and caring for high-acuity patients
• Strong communication, prioritization, and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV medication administration and infusion pump management
• Patient assessment, clinical documentation, and care planning
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems
• Critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and effective teamwork
• Patient and family education with a compassionate bedside manner
