Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on the K9A Oncology/Women's Surgical unit
• Monitor and assess patients, interpret clinical data, and respond to changes in condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Perform and assist with procedures typical to the unit, including echo and thoracentesis, and occasional pelvic exams
• Document care clearly and accurately in the EMR (Cerner) to ensure continuity and safety
• Support patients and families through education, symptom management, and emotional support
• Participate in unit workflows as a team player, pitching in across med-surg areas when needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license (RN) or CNA license as applicable; license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (explicit requirement)
• Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Comfort and experience with oncology patient care and standard med-surg equipment
• Ability to work nights and fulfill weekend coverage requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing knowledge and perioperative/women's surgical familiarity
• Experience with Cerner EMR
• Competence in procedures such as echo and thoracentesis; occasional pelvic exams
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to learn and float rarely to other med-surg units
