Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care to complex cardiac and post-operative patients
• Manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator management safely and effectively
• Perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring and respond rapidly to changes
• Deliver post-CABG and cardiac post-operative care, supporting recovery and preventing complications
• Collaborate closely with intensivists, surgeons, respiratory therapy and the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in Meditech and lead bedside shift report with whiteboard updates
• Support ECMO and heart transplant patients when required and escalate concerns appropriately
• Model professional conduct that aligns with unit dress code, safety and patient-experience expectations

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temp license NOT accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU/critical care nursing experience (CVICU experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proven experience with ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring and post-CABG care
• Comfort working in a very high-acuity unit (ECMO, heart transplant exposure is a plus)
• Meditech experience preferred and strong bedside communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and ICU workflow
• Ventilator management and respiratory therapy collaboration
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of invasive lines
• Post-operative cardiac care (CABG, cardiac cath familiarity)
• Familiarity with ECMO and heart transplant patient needs
• Electronic documentation (Meditech) and bedside shift reporting
• Team-based communication, prioritization and crisis response
