Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and support to geriatric residents, preserving dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding)
• Monitor and document resident status, reporting changes promptly to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help create a warm, friendly environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
• Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in resident areas
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with families and team members about resident needs

Qualifications

• GNA certification (or recognized equivalent) required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• State-required nursing assistant certifications and clear background checks
• Comfort and experience working with elderly or long-term care populations preferred
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Ability to pass health screening and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA/nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic nursing care
• Knowledge of infection control practices and safe patient handling
• Competent with vital signs monitoring and basic resident observation
• Good documentation and charting habits
• Empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow care plans and take direction from RN/LPN staff
