Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide thorough pre-operative assessments and patient education to prepare patients and families for surgery
- Deliver safe, attentive post-anesthesia care in the PACU and closely monitor recovery
- Perform airway, hemodynamic, and pain assessments and intervene as needed
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure smooth patient flow
- Document assessments, interventions, and discharge instructions clearly and accurately
- Maintain infection control standards and adhere to TB clearance and other facility policies
- Participate in shared on-call rotations to support the team during nights and weekends
Qualifications
- Current California RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- TB clearance completed within 12 months prior to start
- Experience in Pre-Op and PACU nursing preferred
- Comfortable participating in a shared on-call rotation including nights and weekends
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced perioperative setting
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and PACU protocols
- Skill in post-anesthesia assessment, airway management basics, and vital sign monitoring
- Ability to triage and prioritize patients in recovery and pre-op
- Familiarity with medication administration and basic emergency response in the PACU
- Patient education skills and compassionate bedside manner
