Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for MICU/MSICU patients, managing complex ventilator needs
• Perform and manage bedside procedures such as central line care, thoracentesis, and intubations
• Monitor and interpret cardiac output and telemetry using advanced monitors
• Coordinate and deliver dialysis and NXStage related patient care when required
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes in condition
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute patient care plans
• Respond to emergencies including cardioversions and rapid sequence intubations with confidence
• Prioritize patient safety, infection control, and evidence based critical care practices

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years MICU or MSICU experience (unit requires 2+ years preferred)
• CCRN preferred but not mandatory
• Proven experience with ventilator management, central lines, and ICU procedures
• Comfortable using Meditech and working with equipment like NXStage and Arctic Sun

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ventilator management and weaning skills
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and interpreting hemodynamic data
• Experienced with central line and dialysis catheter care
• Proficient in ICU procedures including intubation and thoracentesis
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation system
• Comfortable using NXStage, Arctic Sun, and GE cardiac output monitors
• Excellent critical thinking, triage, and patient prioritization skills
• Team oriented with strong communication and situational awareness
