Location: Bakersfield, California

Start Date: 06-12-2026

End Date: 09-11-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Mostly 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday, with one day per week 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday) with Monday and Friday off on those weeks

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and treatments for acute inpatient populations, including post-surgical (TKA, THA, spinal surgery), orthopedic, and neurological (CVA) patients
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation team to develop and implement individualized care plans
Cover a variety of units including Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER as needed
Document patient progress accurately and adjust treatment plans based on clinical findings
Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, functional mobility, and discharge planning

Qualifications

Active California Physical Therapy license
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Prior experience in an acute inpatient setting is required
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
Must be comfortable covering diverse clinical areas including ICU and ER

Knowledge & Skills

Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills for acute care patients
Proficiency in manual therapy and therapeutic exercise prescription
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration
Ability to prioritize and manage a caseload of 12+ patients per day
Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation standards
