Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to adult patients, including acute and chronic disease management
• Perform thorough history and physical exams and develop patient-centered treatment plans
• Prescribe and manage medications safely and effectively within CDCR guidelines
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
• Coordinate care with nursing staff, mental health providers, and specialists to ensure continuity
• Participate in required CDCR Off-Post training and comply with facility policies and security procedures
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and uphold clinical best practices in a correctional setting

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Active medical license or eligibility to obtain licensure in California
• Clinical experience in primary care; correctional healthcare experience is a strong plus
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Ability to complete CDCR Off-Post training (OPTS) within 30 days of start date
• Successful completion of background checks and required facility clearances

Education

• Medical degree (MD or DO)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong primary care clinical skills in diagnosis and chronic disease management
• Excellent clinical documentation and electronic health record proficiency
• Sound prescribing practices and medication management
• Effective communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary settings
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols in healthcare environments
• Comfort working with diverse adult patient populations in a correctional facility
