Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Lanham, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem schedule, days may vary, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric patients, helping with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs and patient observations accurately
- Assist nursing staff with safe transfers, mobility support, and positioning
- Support patient dignity and independence through respectful, person-centered care
- Maintain clear, timely documentation and communicate changes to the care team
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep patients safe
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) or equivalent state-recognized credential
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and required immunizations
- Comfort working with elderly populations and residents with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance and mobility support
- Accurate vital signs measurement and basic clinical observation
- Good documentation practices and effective communication with clinical teams
- Patient-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills
