Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide thorough psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for an adult correctional population
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that reflect best practices in mental health care
• Collaborate with psychologists, social workers and custody staff to ensure coordinated patient care
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and follow facility protocols
• Perform crisis assessment and acute interventions as needed to maintain safety
• Participate in required training and orientation, including the two-week training period

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with completed psychiatry residency
• Active and unrestricted California medical license or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience or interest in working with mental health populations, correctional experience a plus
• Ability to complete mandatory 2-week, Monday-Friday training on 8-hour shifts
• Strong clinical documentation skills and comfort working within institutional protocols
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility security requirements

Education

• MD or DO, completion of accredited psychiatry residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and psychopharmacology
• Skilled in managing acute psychiatric presentations and de-escalation techniques
• Familiarity with evidence-based treatment approaches for serious mental illness
• Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a correctional setting
• Clear verbal and written communication for clinical notes and interprofessional coordination
