Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and compassion
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper technique to reduce risk for residents and staff
• Take and record vital signs, observe changes in condition, and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Document care accurately and timely in the facility charting system
• Build rapport with residents and families through respectful, person-centered communication
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep everyone safe

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) credential or equivalent required
• Current state GNA/CNA certification in Maryland (or eligible to obtain)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Comfortable with resident lifting/transfer techniques and safe patient handling
• Compassionate attitude, good communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, feeding and toileting support
• Knowledge of infection control and resident safety practices
• Strong interpersonal skills and patient-focused bedside manner
• Observational skills to notice and report subtle changes in condition
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed nurses
