Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to adult patients including assessment, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions
• Perform routine exams, develop treatment plans and coordinate referrals as needed
• Prescribe medications responsibly and manage follow-up care to ensure continuity
• Document patient encounters accurately in the medical record and maintain clinical compliance
• Collaborate with nursing and correctional health staff to ensure patient safety and continuity of care
• Participate in required facility trainings, including CDCR Off-Post training within 30 days of start

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted California medical license (MD or DO) required
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine preferred
• Valid DEA registration or ability to obtain prior to clinical duties
• Experience or interest in correctional healthcare is a plus; comfort working in a secure facility required
• Ability to complete CDCR Off-Post training (OPTS) within 30 days of start and meet facility background/security requirements

Education

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• Completion of residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong primary care clinical skills in adult medicine and chronic disease management
• Comfortable with thorough patient assessment and evidence-based treatment planning
• Proficient documentation practices and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Excellent communication skills for working with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Awareness of safety and security protocols relevant to correctional settings
