Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality critical care to adult and adolescent patients using evidence-based practices
• Manage ventilated patients and troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to full ventilation
• Titrate IV drips safely (vasopressors, paralytics, sedatives, narcotics, antiarrhythmics) and maintain accurate documentation
• Interpret telemetry strips and monitor centralized Draeger telemetry to detect changes in cardiac status
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including attendings, fellows, residents, RTs, and unit support staff for coordinated care
• Respond to RRTs and codes as part of the unit response team and support charge nurse duties when needed
• Maintain thorough EPIC charting and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in unit orientation, competency validation, and pass the open-book skills exam to demonstrate proficiency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in the state of Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used for radius verification)
• Ability to titrate drips and manage high-acuity lines (CVPs, Arterial lines, Swans) and devices
• Willingness to float to other inpatient units (excluding Maternity/NICU) and work every-other-weekend
• Must meet facility policies (e.g., artificial nails prohibited) and pass orientation competencies (90% on skills exam)

Education

• Active RN license required (BSN not required/--- per posting)
• State-appropriate nursing education (ADN, diploma, or BSN) acceptable

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing fundamentals and advanced assessment skills
• Ventilator management and familiarity troubleshooting vents, CPAP/BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring using Draeger centralized telemetry
• IV drip titration and vasoactive medication management
• EPIC charting proficiency and strong documentation habits
• Familiarity or exposure to CRRT, Impella/balloon pump, Swan-Ganz catheters, ICP monitoring, EV-1000 hemodynamic monitoring
• Ability to work in a fast-paced tertiary care environment with strong critical thinking and teamwork
