Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Support residents with mobility, transfers, and fall prevention strategies
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Document care activities accurately and timely in the resident record
• Help create a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for residents
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
• Assist with meal service, feeding support, and basic comfort measures

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification in the state of Maryland (required)
• Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care preferred
• Current basic life support (BLS) is preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass facility background checks and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Reliable, punctual, and able to handle the physical demands of the role

Education

• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• Completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and geriatric care needs
• Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety protocols
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Compassionate bedside manner and effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow care plans and escalate clinical concerns appropriately
• Basic mobility assistance and safe transfer techniques
