Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with compassion and respect
• Support mobility and transfer needs safely, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor residents' conditions and promptly report changes to nursing staff to ensure timely care
• Provide friendly companionship and engage residents in meaningful interactions to support emotional well-being
• Document care provided accurately and thoroughly in the resident record
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment including basic room tidying and infection control practices
• Collaborate with the care team to follow care plans and participate in care conferences when needed

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or completion of an approved GNA program (state-specific requirements apply)
• Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain promptly
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings per facility policy
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach to elder care
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work safely with residents and team members

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a state-approved GNA training program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic patient hygiene
• Knowledge of infection control and safe handling procedures
• Comfortable with resident mobility assistance and fall prevention techniques
• Basic documentation and charting skills; attention to detail
• Empathetic communication and ability to build rapport with older adults
• Teamwork mindset and adaptability in a fast-paced care environment
