Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct total nursing care for an assigned group of residents/patients during your shift
• Serve as the unit resource and provide charge nurse leadership in clinical and operational matters
• Support the Director of Nursing by providing administrative backup when needed
• Lead quality management activities and participate in continuous improvement efforts
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop, implement and evaluate individualized care plans
• Provide patient and family teaching while maintaining privacy and confidentiality
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and ancillary staff to ensure seamless resident-centered care

Qualifications

• Active State of Maine RN license or Compact RN license
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
• Previous charge nurse or leadership experience is preferred
• Strong communication, delegation and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to work Monday through Thursday daytime schedule

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (2-year college/ADN) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Leadership and unit coordination skills
• Quality management and problem-solving abilities
• Patient/resident teaching and effective patient communication
• Thorough understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality regulations
• Comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams and mentoring staff
