Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and direct total nursing care for an assigned group of residents/patients during your shift
- Serve as the unit resource and provide charge nurse leadership in clinical and operational matters
- Support the Director of Nursing by providing administrative backup when needed
- Lead quality management activities and participate in continuous improvement efforts
- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop, implement and evaluate individualized care plans
- Provide patient and family teaching while maintaining privacy and confidentiality
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and ancillary staff to ensure seamless resident-centered care
Qualifications
- Active State of Maine RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
- Previous charge nurse or leadership experience is preferred
- Strong communication, delegation and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to work Monday through Thursday daytime schedule
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (2-year college/ADN) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
- Leadership and unit coordination skills
- Quality management and problem-solving abilities
- Patient/resident teaching and effective patient communication
- Thorough understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality regulations
- Comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams and mentoring staff
