Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert emergency nursing care in a 28-bed department including trauma bays, behavioral health rooms, and cardiac monitor rooms
- Assess and prioritize patients rapidly to ensure timely, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment
- Perform cardiac monitoring and interpret findings to guide immediate interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during high-acuity and trauma events
- Administer life-saving interventions following BLS/ACLS/PALS protocols
- Support behavioral health patients with safe, compassionate care and effective de-escalation
- Document patient care accurately and communicate critical information during handoffs
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the State of Hawaii required by assignment start (travelers must apply upon acceptance if not already licensed)
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience in emergency nursing, trauma care, and cardiac monitoring preferred
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-turnover emergency department
- Preferred certifications: Procedural Sedation, TMCC, EMPC (nice to have but not mandatory)
- Professional, team-oriented approach with strong clinical judgment
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong triage and rapid assessment skills for emergency presentations
- Proficiency with cardiac monitoring and interpretation
- Trauma nursing skills including trauma bay workflows and team roles
- Ability to manage behavioral health patients safely in the ED
- Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and high patient turnover
