Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform routine histology procedures including embedding and microtomy with precision
- Run immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains, ensuring high-quality results
- Operate digital pathology systems and accurately document cases in Epic Beaker
- Maintain quality control, instrument checks, and proper specimen handling
- Collaborate with the lab team and Technical Coordinator to support patient care
- Follow safety, infection control, and laboratory policies at all times
- Participate in orientation, training, and continuing education to stay current
Qualifications
- Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) via ASCP (required)
- BLS (AHA) certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of histology experience required; 3 years preferred (explicit in job posting)
- BSN in Chemistry (listed in job details)
- Experience with Epic Beaker (LIS/EMR) and digital pathology systems
- Familiarity with Roche laboratory equipment
- Detail-oriented mindset and strong documentation skills
- Weekend and holiday availability as needed, and ability to be in-state for orientation
- Valid driver’s license and able to meet the 60-mile radius requirement for assignment
Education
- HLT (Histotechnologist) Certification through ASCP (required)
- BSN in Chemistry (listed as required in the job data)
- BLS (AHA) certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Routine histology techniques: embedding and microtomy
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special staining methods
- Digital pathology workflows and Epic Beaker charting
- Quality control, specimen tracking, and lab documentation
