Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality CT exams with and without power contrast injections, following radiologist protocols
- Prepare and position patients safely and compassionately, including transfers and immobilization when needed
- Start IVs and administer contrast media appropriately and safely
- Use PACS and HIS/RIS systems to document images and patient information accurately
- Apply technical expertise—adjust kVp, mA, time/distance, and automatic exposure control for optimal imaging
- Operate and adjust gantry/table settings and specialized CT equipment as required
- Adhere to radiation safety and sterile technique standards to protect patients and staff
- Communicate effectively using AIDET and SBAR to ensure smooth handoffs and clear information flow
- Mentor radiology students and contribute to a positive learning environment
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies while completing necessary paperwork and archiving
Qualifications
- Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification (required)
- ARRT RT(R) (CT) registration required
- Basic Life Support (Healthcare Provider) to be completed within three months of hire
- Completion of Samaritan CT modality orientation (required prior to independent practice)
- Minimum of two years hospital experience preferred
- Ability to safely lift/carry up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing/walking
- Professional communication skills for working with patients, physicians, and the care team
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in CT imaging and radiologic technology best practices
- Experienced with PACS and HIS/RIS image/document archiving and retrieval
- Skilled at IV insertion and safe contrast media administration
- Strong patient positioning techniques and use of immobilization when needed
- Understanding and application of automatic exposure control and technical factors (kVp, mA, time/distance)
- Familiarity with sterile technique, AIDET, and SBAR communication tools
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and adjust technical/physical parameters for exams
- Competent mentoring and student guidance in a clinical education setting
